Superstar was the world's first drum kit to utilize an all-Birch shell, producing the perfect sound for the emerging genres of the time - a sound that captivated the top drummers in the world. The groundbreaking 6-ply/9mm shell design was crucial to Superstar's monumental success. Thicker than modern drums, these shells achieved powerful attack and deep low end. The Tama Superstar Reissue 22" 5pc Shell Pack is a high-quality shell pack from Tama, taking inspiration from arguably Tama's most famous and most influential drum kit, the Superstar. The kit was known for its ground-breaking design, superior build quality, crisp tone and clear projection. The Tama Superstar Reissue features carefully selected Birch shells, offering a powerful, full tonal character with brilliant high and low frequencies.

The shells are constructed with tone in mind, focused intently on shell moulding, whilst the bearing edge shape gives the drums their incredible ringing sustain and powerful projection. The Birch wood allows for an impressive projection and optimum ring, with a tone that isn't muffled or muted at all. The kit carries some of the Reissue features that the original Superstar series had, such as the Reissue Tama T-shape badge and streamlined low-mass lugs that feature a simple design that's reminiscent of the 70's style.

Birch Shells

The Tama Superstar Reissue Shell Pack features 6-ply, 9mm shells on all drum shells for a fatter, heavier tone. The heavy, aggressive thud that the bass drum gives off perfectly contrasts the incredible singing warmth from the rest of the kit. Birch, when compared to other popular tonewoods used in drum construction, is a hard wood with a dense grain pattern. This allows for higher frequencies, increased and incredibly powerful projection with dramatic thunderous lows.

The Star-Mount System was developed to increase the resonance of drums. This new mounting system provides support at four points on the batter side hoop of a drum. The bracket eye-bolts slide to the left and right, so it's possible to prevent the eye-bolts from touching each other even when setting up two toms close to each other
